Blog #1 - Thursday, February 2, 2012 Welcome to the world of blogging! On your wikispace, you need to set up a blog page. To do this, click on the + sign beside "Pages and Files", then select "New Page" and name it Blog. You can then edit the page by clicking on the Edit button, and then typing into the box that pops up. Please keep it organized by clearly marking the date you were assigned the blog entry. 1. What is your impression of the class so far? What do you like? Dislike?
2. What is one thing that you would really like to learn about in this class that is media related?
3. What is one thing that you have learned in this class already?
4. Why is it important to learn about how the media affects us?
1. I think the class is a good fun learning environment. I like that we get alot of time to work and discuss things in groups. So far there is nothing that I would change.=p
2. I wuld like to learn how some of the really big companies in the world spend their money on advertising and how much they spend on making a good product. I'd also like to learn what it takes for one campany to be the number one in their industry. Ex. Why do people like Apple iPods so much better then the same thing from a different company.
3.So far i learned how the media uses it's advertisements to target different audiences. They use alot of bright colors and fast flashy ads for younger people, alittle slower ads for older people and families that focus more on detail and getting the information across.
4.It's important to learn so we can make better choices about how we buy things based on things we see on t.v and in the news. It helps us understand what techniques the media uses to get the attention of it's veiwers and by learning this we can avoid being sucked into flashy ads.
